Homemade Vitamin Water

Vitamin Water Ingredients

After doing research on High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), I found that crystalline fructose is just the dried version of HFCS. So when I was drinking my vitamin waters I was getting 100% fructose, which is why I felt lousy all the time. While I liked the flavor of these beverages, I knew I could make my own version and still have it taste good, and be filled with vitamins instead of synthetic look-a-likes.

Putting on the Squeeze

I started making this for my 32 ounce water bottle, it includes the juice of one lemon, alkaline water, 1/4 teaspoon liquid cinnamon bark, 1 mL B-complex vitamins, and a packet of stevia. I shook it up and drink it throughout the day for a nice pick-me-up. I have played around with other flavors but really like this one the best.

Vitamin Water with Attitude

Drinking this water will give you a better attitude because it has vitamins and nutrients, plus the cinnamon is great for curbing sugar cravings.

Vitamin Water with Attitude

  • 32 ounces alkaline or filtered water
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon liquid cinnamon bark
  • 1 mL sublingual vitamin B complex
  • 1 packet stevia sweetener

Shake it all together. store in fridge until ready to drink.

Variations: Use other fruit in place of the lemon like: pureed plum, kiwi, mango, melon, berries, oranges, even banana works. Adding extra powdered vitamin C, a liquid mineral complex, and even a cap full of liquid vitamins (although the flavor may need adjusting.

Don’t be fooled by impostors that sell vitamins in a water filled with chemicals, HFCS and food coloring.

Avocado Aloe Vera Sunburn Treatment

Sunburns aren’t new to me. I get one every summer from the first day I spend totally in the sun. It is like my body’s way of preparing itself for the summer season. I have never worn sunscreen or even used it on my kids as I think it causes more harm to our bodies than the sun is.

There are many treatments for sunburn that can be purchased over-the-counter, I find them both too expensive and too filled with ingredients I don’t want seeping into my skin. This is where my aloe vera plants come in. I have been using my aloe vera plants for many different cuts, scrapes, scars, burns and even eating it for many years.

Because my sunburn was also extremely drying and covered a large area I wanted to use something that would provide moisture as well as cool it. So I looked around my kitchen and found an over ripe almost moldy avocado. You can see the little mold growth on the skin of the avocado above.

Use entire flesh of avocado

Notice the brown color of the avocado flesh. I scooped out the entire inside of the avocado even the brown parts and put it into a food processor.

Then I cut a large aloe vera frond from my many aloe plants. And began by cutting off the prickly sides with a pair of scissors.

With a pairing knife I began to peel the aloe frond.

Because this frond was so large, I only peeled half way down and decided to use the other half for another time.

I found a tablespoon works better at scraping the flesh or gel from the frond.

Scooping Flesh into Food Processor

It is easier to scoop or scrap the gel directly into a food processor with the avocado.

Whirl around a couple of minutes, scraping the sides as necessary to puree all the avocado.

The pureed mixture will have a light brown color to it. Apply it to the affected area with a soft pastry brush, let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse with cool water and blot with soft cloth to dry. As the mixture sits on the skin it will turn a brown color but does not turn the skin brown. Skin will feel soft, cool, and moisturized. I also used this mixture on my face to soothe and cool an outbreak of rosacea.

Avocado Aloe Vera Sunburn Treatment

  • 1 avocado, pitted and peeled
  • 1 aloe vera frond, peeled

Scoop avocado and aloe vera gel into food processor. Whirl around about 1 to 2 minutes to thoroughly puree. Pour into a bowl. Use a pastry brush to lightly brush mixture onto effected skin. Allow to sit for 30 minutes, rinse with cool water and blot with soft cloth to dry.  Repeat as needed to soothe away the burn. (I used it twice for my burn). Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator, but it will turn brown. It is best to make only what you’ll use. This batch made me about 1/2 cup.

LemonLic Aid

It’s the middle of the week and the sluggishness has set in, what better way to combat this than with a Wednesday Wellness Day.  Take a breather, put your feet up, give yourself a little pampering, and refresh your body from the inside without breaking the bank.

Last February I went on a liver cleanse and was told to eat a raw garlic clove and drink lemon water every day. The lemon water wasn’t a problem but I knew I couldn’t just pop a garlic clove into my mouth and be off. So I came up with this LemonLic Aid that is both nourishing and detoxifying. I liked it so much that now even while I am not cleansing I still make this drink at least once a week.

Simple ingredients

LemonLic Aid

Into a blender put:

  • 8 ounces filtered water
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon liquid cinnamon bark or ground cinnamon (liquid cinnamon bark mixes easier and can be purchased at any vitamin or supplement store)
  • ½ teaspoon stevia (optional)

Whirl it together and drink.
