Citrus Cleaner

The basic recipe for this cleaner is to use white vinegar and citrus peels. I also used the whole fruit itself. Lemons, oranges and limes. If I used the juice for a recipe I cut the left over lemon in half and threw it into the jar of vinegar. I kept doing this for a two week period until the Mason jar was filled with fruit and white vinegar. Then I let it sit for another two weeks in a dark place to let the vinegar do its job of taking out the good stuff from the peels and pith of the citrus fruit. As the jar is sitting. I make sure the lid is not tightened to let out the gas bubbles. Sometimes I even shake the jar to mix things up a bit.

After the two weeks I just strain the vinegar and put it into a glass bottle, labeled of course. And then I add a half cup for each spray bottle of water. Because my husband does not like the smell of vinegar all over the house I add 5 drops of peppermint oil. I color code my cleaning bottles so I know which has the peppermint oil in it so I don’t use this on my mirrors or windows.

It’s that simple. But if you want to follow picture directions apartment therapy has a good tutorial.
